Water is a raw material used and treated in large quantities (injection water, production water, process water, wastewater, rainwater, cooling water, tank cleaning water, domestic wastewater…) by the oil industry, from extraction activities through to the petrochemical and refining process. The wastewater to be treated also depends on the quality of the crude oil, the process for treating the oil and the applications planned for its by-products.
