Membrane systems have been around for quite a while now but have not gained extensive use for treating feed and process water. Some industrial sites are reluctant to their use sometimes because of the large volume of water to be treated or fears about their novelty and lack of robustness.

Membrane systems are a great way to get away from regeneration chemicals and can require little maintenance.
